POKOTABI / Kitchen Punch
キッチン パンチ
Kitchen Punch is a beloved Nakameguro Yoshoku diner. Discover the charm of neatly wrapped ketchup chicken rice omurice topped with your choice of hamburg steak or jumbo fried shrimp.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
When the omurice arrives at your table in the backstreets of Nakameguro at Kitchen Punch, it appears just as you might imagine: chicken rice neatly tucked inside a thin sheet of fried egg, finished with an elegant stripe of red ketchup. Cut in with a spoon and the moist ketchup-seasoned chicken rice reveals tender pieces of chicken and onions, delivering an uncomplicated harmony of gentle sweetness and mild acidity. The real pleasure here is personalizing this classic centerpiece by layering on your favorite side dishes.
A frequent choice to crown the omurice is the hamburg steak smothered in house-made demi-glace. Carefully kneaded by hand before cooking, the patty has a tender bite and a deep, rich sauce that blends seamlessly with the chicken rice. The fried options are equally enticing: plump, springy fried shrimp show off a satisfying crunch when paired with the house tartar sauce. Rich, milky crab cream croquettes, crisp menchi katsu, and seasonal winter fried oysters make choosing your add-ons an enjoyable dilemma.
Beyond omurice, Kitchen Punch also serves comforting standards like fragrant Neapolitan spaghetti and satisfying hamburg steak set meals served with rice. The dashi-rich miso soup that accompanies the meal adds an earthy, reassuring finish. Watching each plate come together in this compact restaurant of counter seats and tables makes enjoying your customized Yoshoku platter all the more rewarding.
